Building the blueprint for rehab, performance, and clinical mastery. Evidence-based education for clinicians who want to build systematic reasoning, patients who want to understand and athletes of all ages who train intentionally.

SECTION 01 — FOUNDATION

THE ARCHITECT

19 years in the field —
from the Division I sideline to the outpatient clinic to the classroom. Dr. Wade Soenksen is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), and Certified Athletic Trainer who has spent nearly two decades bridging the gap between clinical evidence and real-world application from the simple ankle sprain to complex musculoskeletal, orthopedic and neurologic overlays.
His career spans experience in Division 1 athletic coverage for Rowing, Soccer, Football, and Softball, Lacrosse, Cheerleading along with serving as Olympic Sports Rehabilitation Coordinator overseeing Volleyball, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball, Baseball, Track and Field, Swimming and Diving, Wrestling, and Men's and Women's Basketball. That experience — paired with orthopaedic residency training and years of clinical education — is the foundation of everything built here. The Rehab Architect exists to translate that depth into structured, accessible frameworks — for clinicians who want to sharpen their craft, patients who don't want to settle for 'status quo' care and athletes of all ages who want to move, perform, and recover with intention.

SECTION 02 — TESTIMONIALS

Clinical Mentor Success

"Wade is a great patient communicator and is clinically sound and up-to-date in his rehabilitation decisions and progressions. He was a great coworker that always had resources for me to dive into and discuss as his fellow strength coach."

Wade challenged me to think differently, ultimately changing the way I approach and view physical therapy. His ability to combine a deep knowledge of evaluation and treatment with exceptional patient education and interprofessional communication made him an outstanding clinical instructor. Beyond teaching techniques, he emphasized how rehab should truly be approached to create the best outcomes for patients. The relationship we built during my clinical experience was invaluable, and I know I’ll continue to stay in close contact with him as I begin my career as a physical therapist. I would highly recommend Wade to anyone looking to elevate their clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and treatment skills."

"I have had the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Soenksen in the collegiate athletics setting and have been consistently impressed by both his clinical knowledge and the way he works with athletes. He does a great job combining evidence-based practice with the real-world demands of high-level sport, allowing him to make strong clinical decisions while still understanding performance and return-to-play needs. His attention to detail and ability to individualize care have had a positive impact on athlete recovery and overall performance. One of Dr. Soenksen’s biggest strengths is his ability to collaborate and communicate with everyone involved in the athlete’s care. He works well with athletes, coaches, strength staff, and sports medicine teams, helping create a supportive and professional environment. He also has a great way of educating athletes so they better understand the “why” behind what they are doing, which improves buy-in and confidence throughout the rehab process. From a strength and conditioning perspective, Dr. Soenksen does an excellent job bridging the gap between rehabilitation and performance. He understands the demands of training and competition and works to make sure athletes are not only healthy when they return, but fully prepared to perform. He is dependable, hardworking, easy to work with, and genuinely invested in helping both athletes and colleagues succeed. I would strongly recommend Dr. Soenksen as both a clinician and colleague."

"I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Soenksen as he served as my clinical instructor during my final rotation while completing my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Over the course of 12 weeks, he played a pivotal role in shaping my clinical reasoning, particularly in differential diagnosis, and significantly expanded the skills I continue to use in practice today. From the very beginning, it was clear that Dr. Soenksen is deeply passionate about his work and dedicated to sharing his knowledge with those around him. He consistently supported me through challenging cases, remained attentive during our meetings, and provided thoughtful, constructive feedback. His mentorship was instrumental in fostering both my personal and professional growth early in my career. He also introduced me to a variety of outcome and objective measures to ensure patients received the highest quality care. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have worked with Dr. Soenksen and am proud to consider him one of my mentors."

"Wade has been a trusted resource, colleague, and friend across many years. As a young, green athletic trainer in the Division 1 setting, Wade made himself and his knowledge available with patience, kindness, passion for bettering patient outcomes. Wade was known in our athletic training room for his clinical evidence based approach. But one of my favorite things about working with Wade was that with that foundational knowledge, he always found balance with creative application to the sport setting. The student athletes gravitated towards him because he took the time to educate and make them feel like an active part of the care team.Wade saw his additional education, not as a title that made him better than his athletic training peers, but as a bridge to teach and elevate the care athletic trainers provide. It’s been a few years since we have worked directly together. But each day, his guidance still impacts my clinical decision making."

"I had the honor of working alongside Dr. Soenksen while at the University of Illinois as a colleague. His methodical approach to Sports Medicine, particularly at the DI Collegiate level is second to none. He operated as an extension of the AT Staff in every sense of the word. He always made time for clinical discussion, made each encounter a learning opportunity, lead with consistency and humility. I appreciate how he was able to positively impact and challenge our mutual patients as well as the Sports Medicine staff to grow and improve. Dr. Soenksen’s super power is connecting with the athlete and pushing them to the ends of their comfort zone to achieve their goals. Similarly, he made me feel safe enough to ask questions, encouraged my contributions and observations, and took my clinical experience to another level with each interaction. Whether you’re a healthcare professional looking to improve your clinical skill set or collaborate with a like-minded colleague, or an athlete looking for a strong clinician, Dr. Soenksen is your guy. He has my highest recommendation and endorsement."

"Wade has been an amazing mentor for me, ever since the beginning of my career. Wade was at University of Illinois and he would allow me to shadow and learn from him and the Illini Sports Medicine team. We would also do biweekly zoom meetings to discuss patient cases and how I can improve my diagnostic skills and exercise prescription and progressions. Under his mentorship, I was challenged and questioned on my clinical rationale. This tremendously improved my clinical decision making, especially as a new grad. After 2 years of formal mentorship, I ended leaving my outpatient clinic and pursued a sports residency. Through the years, Wade has consistently been a resource for me due to his vast knowledge and experience in sports medicine. I know that Wade will always support me and provide me good context on difficult cases."
